Adam & Katie floated into each other's lives, literally, in fall of 2021 surfing at Pools Beach in Rincón, after each moving to the island seeking waves and an escape from city life during the pandemic. As Adam tells it, he spotted Katie in the surf and knew immediately he had to meet her. He was surfing with their mutual friend Ty, and asked for an introduction. Ty wisely refused, however, telling Adam he should probably just keep having fun because he'd need to be serious about it if he wanted to go for Katie (major props to Ty for the sage counsel :). They met that day anyway, but it wasn't until six months later that another friend played a key role in bringing them together in, of all places, Las Vegas, where one of Katie's best friends, Janiece, crossed paths with Adam at a work conference. A few rounds of the name game, several cocktails, and a karaoke night out later, and Katie got a very entertaining Facetime call at 6am in PR / 2am in LV from Adam, Janiece, and their colleagues. Buuuuut, it still took another six months of sliding into DMs and alternately playing coy & flirting in the lineup before their official first date in fall of 2022—appropriately a surf & brunch date—which they never looked back from. The following year they moved in together at Adam's beach house right in front of Pools Beach where they'd met, and the year after that, he proposed in that very same spot.

P.S. As Katie tells it, she drew Adam in her journal on her 2021 retreat and manifested him, Pinocchio style —and she's got the drawing to prove it :).
